We all know that Hashtags work by organizing and categorizing photos and videos.
If you have been using any one of the public social media accounts out there and add a hashtag to a post, that post will be visible to anybody who searches that hashtag. (Think old school directory of all the photos and videos that were tagged with that same hashtag).
Since these hashtags are used with an intent to discover content, the right hashtags can put you in front of your target audience, even if they haven’t connected with you before.
So, how do we make sure you are using the right hashtags for YOUR industry?
It all comes down to these three categories:
Branded Hashtags:
These Hashtags are specific to you and your company. Think #BVA or #BVASocial
Industry Hashtags:
Here, we use hashtags that are about a specific subject for your ideal client. Think #SocialMediaManager or #ContentCreator
Content-Specific Hashtags:
With content-specific Hashtags, you’ll talk directly to the content itself. These hashtags are usually linked to events, product launches, or partnerships. Examples of this would be #SocialMediaTrends2021 or #ContestWinner
The more niche your strategy, the better chances of you getting in front of your ideal client! While the most popular hashtags on Instagram have been used millions of times, that doesn’t mean you’re going to get a ton of likes and comments simply by adding #love, #happy, or #dog to your posts.
Instead of using the most popular Instagram hashtags, it’s better to find and use hashtags that are smaller, more niche, and have an engaged audience that’s relevant to your industry
I know, I know, It all sounds like too much work! Well, guess what, I got you! Here are a handful of hashtag groupings that will help get you noticed by your ideal client!
